About Good News Blog

“If News is not really news unless it is bad news, it may be difficult to claim we are an informed nation” — Norman Cousins

Good News started as a positive news section of our family website.

With ample media attention going out to the cruel, the horrible, the perverted, the twisted, it is easy to become convinced that human beings are going down the drain.

Good News‘ was going to show site visitors that bad news is news simply because it is rare and unique.

“Yeah but…”

…as a Christian don’t you believe all humans are sinful and stuff?

Sure. But God did not create us sinful. He made us in His liking and this you can see reflected in all the good things people try to do. It is evident in the enormously vast amount of people who try to stay out of “trouble”.

I’m not claiming though that people are righteous or perfect….that’s why we need Jesus Christ.

So GoodNewsBlog.com is all about…?

About real news, about positive news. It’s about people helping people, lucky escapes, miraculous rescues, great scientific breakthroughs. It’s about the majority of people going about their daily lives without making that bad big impact that gets them that negative headline. It’s about you and me just living our daily life.

But most of all it is a kind of truth in advertisement thing: everyday news is good and it feels great reading about it.

That same truth in advertisement thing means Good News is not about “prettying” it up, about seeing the world through pink sun glasses. Often the positive and negative go hand in hand in a news story.

Anyway – who are you to talk about Jesus Christ here?!

I’m a regular “guy”. When it comes to religion I can’t walk the walk nor talk the talk. I’m just me. Grown up in an evangelical family I have spend, for various reasons, a stunning amount of time (read: years) struggling with Christianity. From pure rebellion against a God who would allow this or that, to at times not even being sure that God is there in the first place!

My current faith comes from a simple promise I started to test and live by when I turned 25 – a Bible verse that was printed on my birth card, chosen after my father had prayed about it:

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Source: Isaiah 41:10

Putting this promise to the test worked. And it still does, especially in times of trouble.

Through time I have struggled, and still struggle, with issues like Faith vs. Science, apparent contradictions in the Bible, if the Bible is true or not, the truth of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, etc. etc. But my Faith stays.

When I talk about Jesus Christ, or link to pages about him, it is not because I’m good, holier than thou, a goody two-shoes….. it’s because I hope someone else can find something valuable and live more relaxed knowing a complete eternity of time lies ahead of us.
