Toddler rescued from pool

Published 16 May. 2008

A two-year old girl is back home after nearly drowning in a backyard pool.

She survived, thanks to her 6-year-old sister and the fast response of police and fire crews.

2-year old Gwenevere, her 6-year old sister and 4-year old brother were playing outside, when their father went inside to check on a pizza.

He heard his son screaming, ran back outside, and saw his 6-year old daughter pulling her sister out of the pool.

His wife called 911, and a Broken Arrow police officer arrived 93 seconds later.

Officer Chris Walker didn’t feel a pulse, and started to perform CPR on the little girl.

She was taken to the hospital where she recovered.

The family considers Officer Walker a hero; he says the girl’s 6-year old sister is the real hero.
