Grandad has lucky change of lotto numbers

Published: October 23, 2007

Australia — A SYDNEY grandfather who won almost a million dollars in a New South Wales lottery says he owes his good fortune to four-leaf clover and a change of numbers.

The 71-year-old grandfather of four won $965,000 in Lotto Strike last night after deciding to mix up his regular numbers and enclose four-leaf clover in his entry envelopes.

“I don’t know why I did that,” he said.

“I have been playing the same numbers for the last three years which are based around my children’s and grandchildren’s birthdays but for some reason I decided this time to mix them up. “It’s a good thing I did.”

The man, who selected the winning numbers 10, 37, 19 and 6, was told of the win by lotteries officials today.

He plans to spend most of the money on his family and more time playing golf.
