Miracle escape for pair after car rolls 150 metres along road

Published: October 22, 2007

UK — TWO men had a miraculous escape after a crash which saw their car roll 150 metres along a road and end up on its roof.

The pair managed to crawl free from the wreckage of the Peugeot 306 before it caught fire last night.

Residents living near to the scene on Millbrook Road West ran with fire extinguishers and managed to put out the flames while firefighters made their way to the area.

Crews from Redbridge responded to the 999 call initially thinking that someone was trapped inside but on arrival found both occupants had managed to escape.

One is thought to have suffered from injuries to his arm or shoulder while both were treated for shock at Southampton General Hospital last night.

The engine of the car, which had hit a wall before going out of control and landing on its roof, was severely damaged.

Police were forced to close the road while the debris was cleared away.
