Santa cause is helping charity

Published: August 16, 2007

SANTAS were basking in the sunshine on Parker’s Piece on Monday, 25 June, exactly six months before Christmas Day.

The festive characters were celebrating the launch of the 2007 Cambridge Santa Run in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

EACH fundraisers were joined by a festively dressed team from Ecclesiastical Insurance’s Cambridge Regional Underwriting Centre, who are giving their time to support the event.

The Santa Run on the morning of Sunday, December 16, will see participants in Father Christmas suits running, jogging or walking the 2km course from The Grafton shopping centre to Parker’s Piece. After the main run, under-eights will then take part in a special 200m Santa’s Little Helper Dash. Santa suits for adults and hats for children are included in the price of entry, but there will be prizes for the best customised costumes.

Sally Cassels, EACH fundraiser, said: “Participants will be encouraged to help us turn the centre of town into a bobbing sea of red and white all in a fantastic cause.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the massed ranks of Santas of all shapes and sizes having a load of fun as they raise money for life-limited children and their families.”
