Fire-fighters called out to rescue pigeon stuck in a tree

UK — FIRE-fighters with an aerial ladder platform were sent out tonight to rescue a pigeon stuck in a tree.
The crew from York Fire Station were sent to the grounds of the Somerset House retirement home in Church Lane, Weldrake, near York, at around 7.55pm.
They brought the pigeon to safety at around 8.45pm.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “It was a request from the RSPCA which we go out to if they request us.
“Somebody had reported that the bird had been stuck or trapped in the tree for a couple of days.
“An RSPCA inspector had come out and assessed it and as it was an animal in distress they wanted to do what they could to help it.
“It was trapped by its leg and after it was brought down it was taken away to an RSPCA hospital.”
