Boys raise $60,000 for charity

Published: August 8, 2007

Jason’s Bowling Bash for Wishes, presented by Josh Warren, raised more than $60,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in donations leading up to and during Sunday’s event at the Playdrome Cherry Hill Bowling Lanes.

There were 500 participants who bowled, bought raffles and bid on such items as a Jon Bon Jovi-autographed guitar that fetched $2,000, said Scott Warren, Josh’s father.

The bowling bash took place two years after Josh’s brother, Jason Warren, 14, conducted one to raise funds for Make-A-Wish.

The foundation granted Jason Warren’s wish for a video arcade game after he was diagnosed at age 9 with arteriovenous malformation, a rare brain disorder that could prove fatal.

Jason underwent radiation treatments and doctors said he was cured in January 2007. With the $58,000 raised at the earlier event, the Warrens have raised about $118,000 for Make-A-Wish, enough to pay for about 17 wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, Scott Warren said.
