Toddlers waddle for charity

Published: June 26, 2007

Walking is a new skill for most toddlers, but one bunch of tots managed to walk more than a mile on Saturday and raise money for Barnardo’s at the same time.

The children, from Whitefriars Nursery in Penwortham, near Preston, were joined by older brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents and even babies in prams for the nursery’s annual Toddle Waddle.

Up to 50 children, some of them as young as two, walked from the nursery in Hill Road to Hurst Grange Park.

They then waddled back again for drinks and lollies.

Nursery manager Claire Hiles said: “It was really good fun.

“All the children were happy and they got certificates and medals for taking part.

“It was a fun-filled morning.”
