Quick thinking rescue tribute to everyday heroes

Published: June 25, 2007

This is a true story. You probably already heard or read about it, but it’s worth pointing out again.

A band of quick-thinking correctional officers who were fishing in Rainbow Park last week dropped everything when they saw a pick-up truck with children inside roll into the Fox River and start sinking.

The officers jumped in the river and were able to smash through windows in the truck, saving the children.

This is one more example that everyday people are looking out for one another and will do everything in their power to help another.

A huge thank you for these citizens’ selfless heroics.

We’re lucky to have them in this community.
