Five men rescued from house fire

Firefighters using thermal imaging cameras rescued five men from a smoke logged house during a fire in East Yorkshire in England.
The crews led the men to safety after being called to the address on Worcester Road, near Cottingham. Two men were treated for smoke inhalation.
Humberside Fire and Rescue spokesman Glenn Ramsden said the fire started on a mattress and spread across a bedroom.
He said there was a smoke alarm at the property but no battery was fitted.
‘Marks on pillows’
Mr Ramsden added: “This family have been extremely lucky to survive this ordeal. The contents of the first floor of the house have been destroyed by fire and smoke.
“There were white marks on the pillows depicting where the family members had been sleeping seconds before they had to make their escape, everything else in the room is black from the smoke.
“Without doubt a working smoke alarm would have given the family much more time to escape, but sadly there was no battery fitted in this case.”
He added: “A smoke alarm without a battery is not a smoke alarm, it’s just plastic and wires.”
