Baby Ducks Rescued from Storm Drain
Published: May 31, 2007
Some ducks brought traffic to a stop in Meridian Township. Eight baby ducks rescued from a storm drain on Grand River Avenue. The babies fell through the grates of the drain while crossing the street with their mother. She got upset, and township workers came to the rescue.
Royal Hobson, Meridian Twp. Public Works: “Momma was running around in traffic, so we just got the net and they were all here. Once we got seven of them, two of them went down the pipe, and we got one out of the two.”
Mother duck waited nearby with the rest of the family. Police say it’s very common this time of year for ducks to wander across the storm grates.
