Boy honored for pool rescue

An Oklahoma City boy is honored with a heroism award for jumping into a back-yard pool to rescue his then-3-year-old cousin.
The award was presented this week by the Boy Scouts of America to 12-year-old Evan Higbee.
Evan’s recognition came after he spotted his cousin underwater in a family member’s pool in August 2005 . Then just 11-years-old, Evan jumped in and scooped up the child, Hayden Walters.
Hayden’s mother Jill Walters says she had stepped inside her home for a half-minute to tend to her newborn baby, while her other son managed to slip out of his flotation device.
