A 2-year-old girl was resuscitated Tuesday afternoon by a heroic bystander at Preston Mill Apartments in Newnan after the young girl nearly drowned in the community pool.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Newnan Police officers were dispatched to 140 Jefferson Parkway in reference to a child that had fallen into a pool.
According to the police incident report, Cori Kubon was in the area with a friend and noticed two children playing in the pool area with adult supervision. A few moments later, Kubon heard the 2-year-old child’s mother scream, and when she ran over to help she noticed the child had turned blue and was not breathing.
According to the child’s mother, she had turned her back momentarily while changing another child’s diaper. When she turned back around she found the 2-year-old floating face down in the kiddy pool.
Kubon began CPR on the unconscious child as the mother called 911. After “some time,” the child spit up water three times and started to breathe on her own again, according to the police incident report.
The child was transported to the hospital for treatment. No charges were filed in the incident.
