Firefighters to cycle length of Britain for charity
Published: May 23, 2007
A group of Grantham firefighters will cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in seven days for charity.
Money raised will go to the fire service benevolent fund and the Grantham Autistic Information Network (GAIN).
GAIN was set up by Jane Emery last year to provide support for families living with autism and give parents a chance to talk about their experiences with others who are going through the same thing.
Firefighter Clive Baillie, whose son Jake is autistic, will take part in the ride which starts on Wednesday, July 4.
Clive will cycle alongside colleagues Mick Green, Kyle Campbell, Shaun Yates and Darron Stone. Andy Dixon will be their support driver.
Bag packing will take place at Homebase on Saturday to raise more funds.
Sponsorship forms and collection tins are available at Cycle Sport on London Road and there are prizes up for grabs for those who guess the correct time it takes to complete the ride.
