Cat Rescued from Tree
Published: May 2, 2007
Many people say cats always land on their feet, but this kitty refused to jump and instead spent several days stuck in a tree.
Pam Brooks, “It was up there for six days, it had been through a couple of rain storms so it’s been in some pretty traumatic weather out here. It would start down and realized you can’t go frontwards you have to go backwards and it just went higher and higher when the climber came in.”
Pam Brooks works with the rescue group Cats Are Reason Enough, known as CARE.
Many people call the fire department in these situations, only to find out that it’s against the rules.
It could take a truck out of service when it was needed for an emergency.
Ms. Brooks is grateful the men from Pro Tree heard the meow for help and responded.
Brooks, “They’re great, they were right here the next day to rescue the cat, you have to be kind of an animal lover to do this.”
“Doc Tom” of Pro Tree says he is an animal lover and he rescues about 3 or 4 cats from similar situations each year.
Doc Tom of Pro Tree, “I had to get his confidence so I could get to it, then I grabbed it by the back of the head and got him in the net and twisted the net up.”
Now that the kitty is on solid ground, he’s recovering at East Ridge Animal Clinic, which is donating it’s services.
Brooks, “They will check it out and make sure it’s okay, they’ll hold it for ten days and make sure it’s okay to be adopted.”
The cat officially used up one of his lives and hopefully has 8 more left.
