A 15-year-old boy has been rescued from mud after he got stuck while walking home along the coast in Hampshire.
The teenager and a friend were taking a shortcut at the base of the cliff near Naish Farm, at Barton-on-Sea, when he got stuck.
The other boy ran along the beach and found some night anglers. He borrowed a mobile phone to make a 999 call.
Southborne Coastguard rescue team dug the boy out and he was taken to hospital and treated for hypothermia.
Maddy Davey, duty watch manager at Portland Coastguard, said: “This was a well executed rescue by the Southborne Coastguard rescue team in difficult conditions.
“The man was in the ambulance within 50 minutes of receiving the initial 999 call.”
