Woman Rescued after Being Trapped Under Car

Published: April 4, 2007

A woman had to be rescued last night after she became trapped under her car in a parking lot in Somerton south of Yuma.

The woman had parked her car, and then walked in front of it. The car then jumped over a cement parking barrier before hitting the woman and pinning her under the engine compartment.

The car compressed her chest and head between the asphalt and the car.

Because of her injuries, the woman was unable to answer questions from emergency officials about whether the car was left in gear.

It took rescue workers using air bags and the jaws of life three minutes to lift the car off of her so she could breathe.

It took another three minutes to carefully move the car away so it wouldn’t further hurt her or rescue workers.
