Neighbor proves a real ’snow angel’ in time of need
Published: March 27, 2007
Our snow angel is our neighbor across the street — Dave Bane.
Every time it snows, Dave uses his snow blower to clean his driveway and then he comes across the street and clears our driveway.
The important thing to state is we never had to ask him to do this — he just did it because he knew I was physically unable to do it.
Whenever it snows, he knows my wife, who works at Fayette Memorial Hospital, has to go to work at 7 a.m. The week of the Big Snow, Dave knew I had a doctor appointment and had to go to Indiana University East that night. That Thursday, we had a three-foot drift at the bottom of our driveway of solid snow and ice. Dave broke one snow shovel because of the ice, went out and got another and literally worked an hour-and-a-half in 5-degree temps to get my car out!
My family owes a great deal of gratitude to a great neighbor in Dave.
