Miracle escape from minibus crash
Published: March 20, 2007
This was the scene after a minibus carrying a group of special needs adults turned onto its roof after a crash this morning.
Miraculously everyone escaped serious injury in the three-vehicle smash.
The minibus collided with a black Citroen Picasso on the B4019 Blunsdon to Highworth road just after 8am this morning.
Another car had to take evasive action and ploughed through a hedge into a field to avoid the accident, which happened just past the Freke Arms pub.
advertisement The driver of the Citroen had to be airlifted to the Great Western Hospital after being cut free from his car by firefighters.
The driver and the four passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries.
Sgt Richard Day, of Swindon traffic police, said they could have been killed if they had not been wearing their seatbelts.
The road was closed until after 10am.
Police are investigating what happened.
