Boy, 6, Rescues Younger Sisters In Car Accident
Published: March 20, 2007
A six-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero after rescuing his two younger siblings after a harrowing traffic accident.
Patrick Bishop may look like any other kindergartner as he walks along with his little sister, but last Monday he did something that is almost unheard of for a six year old.
“He’s a brave kid. At some points I think he was a little more composed than his mom, and that’s saying a lot for a six year old.”
He’s brave because while his mom was trapped in a rollover accident unable to unbuckle her seat belt, he rescued his sisters.
“I noticed that the vehicle started smoking so I told my son to calm down and get his sisters out as quickly as possible,” says his mother.
Patrick got himself out of the vehicle, rescued his two-year-old sister Megan through a broken window and rescued his ten-month-old sister Taylor through another broken window while she was still in her car seat.
Marcus Harrison is a former volunteer firefighter and he says it was one of the worst accidents he has ever seen, and he is proud of Patrick’s heroic efforts.
“I was impressed, proud. He did a really wonderful thing. I’m really proud of him. I’m glad he was there and able to keep his head,” he says.
