City workers and the humane society joined forces this morning to rescue a dog that had been stuck in a muddy culvert for 24 hours.
Princess, a black lab, ran away from home Sunday morning and wasn’t seen again until a neighbor heard her barking from the drain. It took a combination of animal control officers, humane society workers and Danville firefighters more than two hours to dig through the mud and coax the dog out.
Princess looked good for a dog who had been through such trauma, Paulette Dean, executive director of the humane society said.
