Published: March 13, 2007

A Sheriff’s deputy and a group of drivers are being called heroes after rescuing a woman and her baby seconds before their car burst into flames.

It occurred along Interstate 5 Sunday morning.

Officials said Jossanie Tello, 31, was driving with her 1-year-old son when she lost control of her car and rolled onto the shoulder.

Witnesses took action with the help of a Sheriff’s deputy who happened to be there.

The baby was not injured in the crash, and his mother was taken to Kern Medical Center with major injuries.
