Quick-thinking neighbor saves dog
Published: February 26, 2007
A quick-thinking neighbor helped pull a Labrador Retriever out of a pond on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened on South Crystal Lake Drive near Roxborough State Park and North Roxborough Park Road.
Dan Ashley says he has some guests staying with him this weekend, including two young boys.
Ashley says his Labrador Retriever got out of the house when one of the visiting boys followed the dog to the pond and ashley’s son followed the visiting boy.
Ashley says the boy never fell in, but the dog did.
“Fortunately for us, a neighbor across the way, who I haven’t met yet, came running across the lake with his ladder and put the ladder in the lake and helped everybody out,” said Ashley, the dog’s owner. “In the end, everyone was safe, the two boys are safe, the dog’s fine.”
Ashley says his neighbor left for work right after the mishap, so there hasn’t been a chance for anyone to say thank you, but he says he plans to do that.
