A northwest suburban woman is being called a hero for rescuing her neighbor from his burning home. The fire broke out just before midnight in a home along hickory street- in Cary.
The woman ran into the smoke filled house and pulled the man out.
Firefighters arrived to find the man on the driveway. He’s now recovering at the hospital.
“It takes a lot of guts to go in there and pull somebody out. Like I said, the house was well involved in fire… very proud of that neighbor. Great job,” said Lt. Tony Farina of the Cary Fire Department.
Because of the frigid temperatures- and no fire hydrants in the subdivision- Cary firefighters had to bring in water tankers and additional crews from several neighboring communities.
Fire investigators are trying to find out what sparked this fire.
