Mountain Rescue Team Saves Teens Stuck In Cave

Published: February 14, 2007

News out of Ogden Thursday night where two teenage boys found themselves trapped in a cave.

It happened just north of Ogden Canyon at about 900 North Mountain Road.

Police say two 16-year-olds were in need of rescue and had to wait several hours to be brought to safety.

Lieutenant Jeff Malan with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office says the two teenagers were stranded for about 5 hours.

“It took some time to do it,” said Lt. Malan.

A mountain rescue team was brought in to rope up the teens and then help them repel off the mountain. But they came out of the situation without injury, this according to Lt. Malan.

Rescue teams don’t normally start getting calls of this nature until April or May.

“Unseasonably warm weather has brought people out into the hills early this year,” said Lt. Malan.
