Police Make Vandalism Arrests With Help From Internet

Published: February 7, 2007

Police in Blair County are investigating a series of pre-holiday acts of vandalism. People had their Christmas lights either damaged or stolen. Police said Wednesday that they had found a break in the case from an unexpected source — the Internet.

Police said juveniles, whom they have charged, vandalized several properties in Williamsburg Borough during the week leading up to Christmas.

Police said five underage teens tore down Christmas lights, cut holes in blow up figurines, and stole several holiday lawn decorations from about 15 homes in Williamsburg.

It all happened along the 700 and 800 blocks of Second and Third streets.

Police said the vandals took some of the stolen items and placed them along random streets in the borough and that’s what led officers to the suspects.

The five juvenile suspects face criminal mischief and harassment charges and police said they would most likely pay about $500 in restitution to the people whose properties were vandalized.
