Dog rescued after falling through ice in canal

A dog was rescued by a driver after it fell through the ice in the canal between lakes Cadillac and Mitchell at about 6 a.m. Monday.
After calling for help, the man rescued the dog from the water and wrapped it in a coat. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene soon after.
The dog was taken to the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department where it was given proper care and placed in a heated garage until the dog’s owner could claim it.
The Cadillac Police Department, Northflight EMS, Cadillac Fire Department and the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department were at the scene.
