So when B.A., a bony, German shepherd mix, ran away on Halloween, Cecil spent two days looking for him. Now, thanks to a Web site and a caring family, the Ohio man will pick up his dog Saturday on his way to Charlotte.

Cecil said B.A. jumped out of his truck in Winston-Salem while he was examining the damage caused when he hit a lamppost while trying to avoid hitting an oncoming car.

For the next two days, Cecil said he put 150 miles on his truck searching for the dog.

“I know people were wondering about this crazy truck driver, getting out and hollering, ‘B.A.!’” Cecil said.

With no luck, Cecil posted information about his dog on the Forsyth County Animal Control’s Web site and left town.

Meanwhile, Janet English and her son took in B.A. and fed him. She and a friend contacted Lassie Come Home-NC, a lost pet Web site. The Web site’s administrator found Cecil’s posting on the other site.

Cecil said B.A.’s dog bowl, treats and favorite Harley-Davidson blanket are waiting for him in the truck.

“I’ve been a truck driver for 31 years, and good things usually don’t happen to truck drivers,” Cecil said. “I’m ecstatic.”
