Miracle of rush hour scaffolding collapse
Published: December 1, 2006
TONNES of scaffolding plunged onto a busy road just before rush hour, but miraculously no-one was badly hurt. [Small Miracles II]
The three storey high structure had mysteriously collapsed at 7.30am on Thursday morning, at the start of the busy rush hour.
Thankfully there was no-one nearby when the tower of metal poles and wooden planks crashed onto a walkway and the A1306 road, in Dagenham.
An hour later pupils would have been making their way to classes at Marsh Green Primary School opposite the chaotic scene.
The heavy debris was strewn across the walkway - used daily by morning shoppers - and the road which serves a high volume of commuter traffic every morning.
Councillor Inder Singh Jamu lives opposite the scene of the building site chaos.
He told the POST: “I pass that site every day and people are always around, it is just a miracle that no drivers or pedestrians were hurt when this fell.
