Family’s joy as Pip found safe and well

A FAMILY who lost their dog while holidaying in Edinburgh have been reunited with their pet.
Mark Finlayson, 41, and his three children appealed in the Evening News after Pip was hit by a car and darted off near Granton breakwater on Sunday evening.
The family, who live in Essex and are originally from Edinburgh, feared that the dog may have been injured and lost. But yesterday afternoon he was found safe and well in a garden in Trinity.
The homeowners in Trinity contacted the city’s dog pound where staff immediately recognised the dog from his description in the newspaper and contacted Mr Finlayson.
The three children, seven-year-old James, Kate, 13, and Hugh, 15, are all delighted after being reunited with the four-year-old black and tan collie cross. They had previously been contacted by someone who spotted their dog at around 5.30am yesterday.
He was trying to help himself to some food at Newhaven Fish Market, but then ran off.
Mr Finlayson said: “The kids are absolutely delighted that they’ve been reunited with him. It’s been a dramatic 48 hours so it will be good to get on with the holiday again. We’ll make sure he doesn’t get off the lead again while we’re up here.”
