Rescuers save pit bull puppy from sewer
Published: October 6, 2006
Police officers, firefighters and water department workers have rescued a baby pit bull that had been in a Texas sewer line for more than 15 hours.
The puppy somehow got away from its litter. Its unidentified Fort Worth owner, looking outside, soon heard the dog’s cries and discovered the puppy in the pipe, WFAA-TV, Dallas, reports.
He tried to dig a hole to get her out around 7 a.m.
After several hours and no success, he reached out for help. Several hours later, the police and fire departments were there, along with water department workers.
Firefighters even sent a special camera into the pipe to try to see the dog, but they could only hear its cries.
Crews eventually dug a deep enough hole and were able to reach into the pipe and pull the puppy to safety after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
