Mo, the Chihuahua, will be returned to owner

Published: September 27, 2006

Mo, Redding’s favorite Chihuahua, is coming home Wednesday afternoon, his owner, Rose Dunn, said today.

Dunn, 19, will pick up her dog tomorrow afternoon at Haven Humane Society after weeks of worry, she said.

The dog escaped from Dunn’s yard on Aug. 31 and was taken to Haven where he was legally adopted by another family and renamed Taco, Dunn said.

For weeks the new owners have refused to give back the dog and the saga sparked hundreds of comments on redding.com.

But on Tuesday Haven’s attorney convinced the new owners to return the dog as long as their names are not made public, Dunn said.

Haven officials will pick up the dog Wednesday afternoon and Dunn will pick up Mo after she meets with Haven’s attorney and signs papers agreeing not to sue, she said.

The attorney called Dunn shortly after 4 p.m. today with the good news, she said.

“I could not stop jumping and screaming,” she said.

Dunn is thankful for the community’s support.

“I’m just so happy,” she said.Mo, the Chihuahua, will be returned to owner
