One-time homeless cat wins TV’s first-ever feline reality show

Pat Murphy knew it all along: Cisco the cat was a winner.
“You’re the perfect one,” she told the orange-and-white tabby in May, as he left Kendall to compete against nine other cats on Meow Mix House, the first-ever “feline reality show.”
“You’re going to beat all those other cats,” Murphy, his foster mom, predicted.
She was right.
Thursday night, Cisco triumphed over Ellis, from Portland, Ore., and Zen, from Chicago, in the finals, broadcast on Animal Planet.
The cats had been living in a New York City storefront, their antics filmed for 10 three-minute episodes, after which viewers voted contestants off the show.
Cisco was cast as “the wily cat from South Beach,” who bested the rest in the Purr Off, the Climb-a-Thon, and other gimmicky activities.
He’s been named Feline Vice President of Research and Development at Meow Mix, which means he gets to chow down on new products.
The escapade was a promotion for Meow Mix, the cat-food company, with an underlying worthy purpose: bringing attention to the plight of stray and unwanted animals.
All the contestants were rescues; Murphy, a Miami-Dade Police Department fingerprint technician, is affiliated with Cat Network.
Now all 10 have been adopted, with Cisco headed to a Plantation home where his mother and a sibling live.
