Drowning Boy Rescued from Pool

Published: August 8, 2006

Drowning accidents don’t usually have happy endings. But thanks to some quick thinking, a four-year old is alive to tell the tale.

It happened at the Imperial Pointe Apartments in Nicholasville around 5 p.m. Friday.

The four year old was playing in the pool with a couple of teenage girls when they noticed he went underwater and didn’t come up.

The girls managed to drag the boy out of the pool but he wasn’t breathing.

As luck would have it, Officer Erin Redfield was just a few yards away conducting a kids safety demonstration. The girls immediately notified the officer who managed to perform CPR on the boy, who was then rushed to the hospital.

“It definitely in my opinion is a miracle. We don’t have officers up here everyday. This was something the complex requested. If it had been any other hour this week, there wouldn’t have been anybody here that quickly,” says Officer Scott Harvey.

The boy has made a full recovery. No charges have been filed.
