7-year-old helps others by donating to ‘Locks of Love’

Published: July 12, 2006

Rebekah Johnson, a seven-year-old resident of Jacksonville, read an article in the Jacksonville Daily Progress sometime ago about two twin girls donating their hair to the “Locks of Love” Donation Center.

“I wanted to donate my hair because I had a friend with cancer, Jake Wasson, and wanted to help. This is a way I can help people with cancer,” Rebekah said.

Rebekah said she will continue to grow her hair and donate again.

Rebekah’s hair dresser, Stacie, said, “I have been doing Rebekah’s hair for quite some time now. She is an angel to me — always thinking of and caring about others. She’s got the biggest heart and loves everyone so much. I have truly enjoyed watching her grow.”

Phyllis Johnson, Rebekah’s mother, said she is proud of her daughter, too.
