Trapped Kitten Rescued From Pipe

Published: July 10, 2006

Call it the cat with eight lives left.

A trapped kitten was pulled to safety at a Symmes Township construction site around 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Neighbors heard the kitten meowing this past weekend and called authorities.

Duke Energy and fire crews tried several different ways to pull the kitten to safety Thursday evening.

The Loveland-Symmes fire chief tells us the kitten was about 40 to 45 feet up in the pipe, and was very scared.

“We placed an air hose 43 feet up into the pipe,” said Chief Otto Huber, Loveland-Symmes Fire Department. “Turned the air hose on, and actually coaxed the cat out.”

The SPCA was caring for the kitten Thursday night.

A neighborhood boy told us he hopes he can eventually adopt the kitten.
