CHILDHOOD sweethearts Marlene Houston and Gordon Johnson have fallen in love again 45 years on after meeting up through the Friends Reunited website.

At 15 they were close at Walbottle School, Lemington, Tyne and Wear but drifted apart.

Now twice-married Marlene, 61, a foster carer of Lemington, and widower Gordon, 61, are living together in Carlisle.

Marlene didn’t expect to find love last October when she posted on the website and lawyer Gordon said: “My reaction was ‘wow’ when I saw her name in the 1959 page.”

She said: “We were boyfriend and girlfriend in an old-fashioned way. I think he had a bit of a crush on me and always saw me as his first love.”
