Firefighters Rescue Dog After Hours Stuck In Sewer
Published: May 26, 2006
West Metro Firefighters cut more than 15 feet into a storm pipe to rescue a dog stuck in the storm drain in Lakewood Thursday.
It took 8 hours to reach the 6-year-old chocolate lab named Cody.
The dog was playing catch with his dog sitter Thursday when he got stuck.
The smallest and skinniest firefighters did the work, going into the drain for 20 minutes at a time and bringing up the muck that was in the way.
“Thank you so much,” Sev DeSoto, Cody’s owner said. “It’s amazing how much you (firefighters) do and how much you care about people you don’t know.”
Cody wagged his trail upon his exit, was rinsed off and in good shape.
