The cat that walked through walls
Published: May 24, 2006
The folks at Spokanimal see some unusual things, including a lot of animal rescues in strange places. They were faced with just such a situation Tuesday when they found themselves at a home in Browne’s Addition where a cat was stuck inside a wall.
For seven days Andy Kumpon could hear the sound of a cat crying but couldn’t figure out where the sound was coming from. The crying it turned out wasn’t coming from outside the house but inside, specifically, inside his kitchen wall.
The problem was finding a way to try and free the cat. Andy called the owner of the house to get approval to bust a hole in the wall and then called Spokanimal to make sure when the cat was free it was OK.
Once it was freed, it turned out to be a tiny black kitten that was no more than a month old.
Andy says he’s grown attached to his furry little friend despite listening to its constant crying for a whole week.
“I’m thinking about adopting … need 24 hours to make a decision, need to talk to management, definitely going to foster the cat,” he said.
