Reviving Native Americans’ Lifestyle
Published: May 22, 2006
Over the weekend, it was a trip back in time for visitors at the Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
The second annual “Voices of the East” event revives the way Native Americans lived in the 18th century.
The interactive experience with historic interpreters places participants into a living settlement, engaging visitors to take part in the eastern Native American culture.
Jeremy Biggs, Native Village coordinator, says, “Most time, you see Native American historians or things interpreted as war things like that. And we want to show you what peaceful Native Americans were like, and that they did lead a good, peaceful life in tune with the land.”
All proceeds from the event go to support educational programming at Angel Mounds.
