Cat Survives Three Months Inside Wall

Published: May 20, 2006

Contractors rebuilding a burned-out townhouse in Columbia, Maryland got a surprise this week when they tore out a wall - they found Harley, a cat missing since the fire more than three months ago.

It’s not known how he ended up in the wall, but a veterinarian is guessing he fell from the ceiling and survived on rodents and condensation.

Harley’s owner, Cindy Hoffman, says he lost more than half of his weight.

The Hoffman’s home was one of several townhouses damaged February 8th by a fire police say was caused by two boys playing with matches.

Harley is back with his family after three days at an animal hospital.
