Three Kids Act Fast Now They’re Being Called Heroes

It is not uncommon for Brandy, Justin and little Haley Jackson to take a walk in the woods with their Papa off of Highway 221 in the small town of Mayo in Spartanburg County. They walk so much, there’s now a trail behind their grandparent’s home. But, back on April 27th, their walk turned into a medical emergency situation.
“We started back and I just got swimmy headed and collapsed up there,” said C.J. Jackson, a grandfather of three. Jackson says he can’t remember much after that. He says when he came to, he saw two paramedics standing over him and then he says he heard a story that touched his heart. “I can’t explain how it makes me feel about my grandbabies,” commented Jackson.
He says his grandbabies, who usually spend time riding their bikes, helped save his life. “At first I did CPR and that’s while my brother was going to get my grandmother,” said Brandy Jackson. She is only 11 years-old, but mature enough to remember how someone gave CPR on TV. “I put my hands together and just pumped his chest and he started breathing again and Justin had to do mouth to mouth because he stopped,” commented Brandy.
When Justin got back he panicked a little bit, he’s only seven years-old. “I just cried, I couldn’t take it, I tried to hold it in,” commented Justin. He says he got it together and started breathing into his grandfather’s mouth. Something he says he saw on TV too, then they say their Papa stopped breathing again.
“Well I was scared and I prayed like five times and I just started crying,” said Justin. After those prayers and some medical treatment, CJ Jackson is now OK. “I hugged him probably about 20 seconds and I gave him a kiss,” said Justin. He says his grandbabies saved his life and they say they love him more than words. “More than I love anybody.”
CJ Jackson says he has a couple of broken bones in his back from the fall and now he wears a brace. He says a doctor told him his blood pressure went up and that may have caused him to pass out and stop breathing.
