Heroes awarded for saving boy from drowning
Published: May 17, 2006
Two people who dove into Tampa Bay to save a child were awarded by the VFW today.
Back in November, the car a family was riding in went off the Howard Franklin bridge.
Everyone escaped, except for their 7 year old son.
That’s when good Samaritans Kerry Reardon and Kelli Earle jumped from the bridge.
At today’s ceremony, the heroes say they feel over-honored, but for a good reason.
Kelli Earle, Saved boy from Tampa Bay
“It was just a culmination of series of events that just could not have played out more perfectly to help save the life and keep an entire family intact, cause that’s what’s important, keeping families together.”
Kelli is a traveling nurse.
She says her training helped save the boy’s life.
Both Kelli and Kerry were also awarded last December by the Pinellas County Board of Commissioners
