Locks donated with love, a few tears, and a smile

Published: May 12, 2006

On Wednesday, May 10, an emotional Rosa E. Foldi donated 19 inches of hair to Locks of Love. Locks of Love provides wigs for people with cancer. In order for hair to be donated, it must be at least 10 inches long.

According to Hair Depot’s Owner and Stylist Becky Spiker, Foldi beat the record of most amount of hair donated by one inch.

Who can blame Foldi for getting upset when the scissors cut into her long hair?

Foldi had been growing her hair for about five years. The only haircut she received during those five years is the trim she gave herself.

Foldi’s emotions also stemmed from the reasoning behind her decision to donate her hair. Foldi donated her hair in tribute to two very special people. These two people are none other than Foldi’s Aunt Susan M. Feaster and her friend Russ N. Scharenguivel. Both

Feaster and Scharenguivel lost their fight with cancer.

When asked why she is donated her hair Foldi states, ” I heard about Locks of Love a long time ago and I promised not to cut my hair and haven’t recently. I have been thinking about all those kids out there that are fighting to keep their hair. So, to you kids out there if donating my hair will make you smile and be happy than take it all.” Whilst watching Foldi get her haircut it was easy to see she was nervous. Foldi comments, “I am scared doing this today but I know it will make someone smile and besides it will grow again.”
