A dramatic rescue mission took place in the area when rail workers sprung into action to save a struggling baby dolphin…
Engineers on the £14million refurbishment of Leven Viaduct called in a hovercraft when a young dolphin was spotted struggling in shallow water at low tide.
The dolphin was humanely captured, put on board the hovercraft and taken to deeper water and she swam away.
Work on the viaduct is continuing well and is on course to be completed on time, to allow the line between Grange and Barrow to re-open in mid July.
