According to the Palm Beach Post, Mack McCormick, 59, received a postcard Monday that was dated with a 1956 postmark marked “return to sender.”
McCormick did not originally send the postcard however his address is the same as the original sender’s address.
Apparently the postcard did reach Riverside, California, but was never delivered to the person to who it was intended, because it did not include a street address, according to postal officials.
The postcard has been in limbo for 50 years, yet, according to McCormick, he received it in good condition without any wrinkles or anything.
McCormick was able to track down the sender, George Hitz, 64, who now lives in Massachusetts, by utilizing information written on the postcard.
Hitz was not interested in receiving the postcard back, but McCormick intends to frame it.
