Missing Dog Turns Up Inside Car Engine
Published: April 12, 2006
A Kidderminster family breathed a collective sigh of relief today when their missing Jack Russell Terrier, Duke, finally turned up. Unusually though, the missing pooch hadn’t actually made it out of family garden.
Tom and Doris Whitney first realised their dog had gone missing last Tuesday, and have spent the last week with family and friends trying to find Duke.
Fast forward a week and Tom tries to start his car, you guessed it, a Rover, when he realised he can’t engage the reverse gear. He rang his son to ask him to come over and take a look, but his son was at work, so Tom who had been out in his car for days, took a peek underneath the bonnet expecting to find an expensive repair job, but instead was greeted with an excited yet undernourished Duke.
Tom commented that he occasionally heard barking coming from near his garage but the barking always stopped whenever he got near, so he assumed it was coming from the dog next door.
12 month old Duke was unhurt and was happily reunited with his ecstatic owners. In an attempt to escape from the car, the little dog had chewed his way through an entire clutch cable.
