2-year-old rescued from backyard pond
Published: April 7, 2006
A man pulled a 2-year-old girl from a landscaped garden pond Thursday morning in the yard of residence on Spiritridge Lane.
The child was conscious and breathing when she was taken to Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Colerain Township Fire Capt. John McNally.
Steve Barnett, a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said the girl was in guarded condition.
Fire fighters went to 10,017 Spiritridge Lane about 11:30 a.m. for report of child who had fallen into a pond, McNally said. When a paramedic unit arrived, a man had already pulled the child from the pond, and performed CPR on the girl, he said.
Barnett said the girl was one of five children that a 51-year-old woman was baby-sitting at the residence. The children were outside on the deck when the girl fell off the deck into the pond.
The woman’s 18-year-old son pulled the girl from the pond, Barnett said.
The small pond was about 3-feet deep.
The girl’s name was not released.
