Firefighters rescue horse from mud

It took nearly a dozen firefighters and heavy equipment to get a horse back on its feet. A 32 year old Palomino was pulled from the mud after a two hour rescue effort in western Lake Worth. The animal is doing fine after a long day and few tense hours.
Around noon Tuesday, Cyboy, a golden glade palomino, born in a nearby field 32 years ago found himself stuck between a rock and hard place.
Earlier in the day the horse inched its way into a soft spot in the pasture. There was no getting out.
Within minutes, the horse’s owners Ron and Pollie Armstrong saw the cavalry arrive.
“This is the last thing you think you’re going to need suddenly the team there and they came in full force,” said Ron Armstrong.
Nearly two dozen firefighters well trained, well equipped and well suited for large animal rescue went right to work.
“Most of the rescues we do are people so when get something close to 2000 pounds, most people don’t understand it,” said Tom Cook of Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue.
Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue special operations used platforms, ropes, pulleys and harnesses.
Cyboy was blindfolded and sedated. Two hours later he awoke to treats and a crowd of happy rescuers.
After a brief hose down and a good meal it was off to graze with his two pals.
Cyboy has sired two sons and outlived them both. He turns 33 this June.
