Charity bike rider says thank you
Published: March 21, 2006
FOLLOWING a 220 mile charity bike ride which has so far raised £3,000, one of the men who took part has taken the time to thank his sponsors and a Falmouth hotel for their support.
Chaz Newman and Paul Bunt, who both work for Bradfords Building Supplies in Pool, went that extra mile and rode from Yeovil Town football club to Lands End in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.
Both men have so far collected around £3,000 for the charity but have still yet to reach a final total as more sponsorship money is coming in.
Sales team member at Bradfords, Chaz Newman, 33, said: “I just want to thank everyone who sponsored me, I had a large number of sponsors from people in the Falmouth, Truro, Redruth and Camborne areas and the Falmouth Beach Hotel have been very kind to me in the run up to the ride.
“I would also like to thank the other members of the gym who have been very supportive and willing to help me out for this good cause.”
The hotel had given Chaz free membership to their gym facilities prior to the bike ride which allowed him to train as much as he wanted.
Falmouth Beach Hotel club manager Cally Wills said: “I decided to help Chaz as it is a good cause and I was willing to be of any help to him. We are all very proud of Chaz, here at the gym as he clearly put a lot of work into his training.”
Chaz also said that he could not have done the ride without the help Richard Pascoe for his help with the bikes used in the ride.
He also said that he is planning another charity bike ride for sometime next September but it is likely to be a lot longer this time.
